Some sf updates.
Ken has been a major breakthrough for me. I don’t know if it’s the AE2012 changes or because of other reasons, but I’m winning my matches much more consistently now. I feel it’s because Ken is a rather basic character when played at my level, so I’m forced to think more creatively when dealing with characters like Akuma and Adon.
Beat a Dudley soundly in 3 matches. I don’t know whether he knew what he was doing though. He had the basics down, but only the barest essentials. He didn’t follow up his cr.hk with anything even though I fell for that at least 4 times. He kept spamming throw even after I figured him out.
Won a Guy today, but that was because he stopped halfway during the second round. Was kind of a meh match because of the lag. Couldn’t do anything so I kept mashing air tatsus and uppercuts.
Lost to a Hakan/Dan player, lost to the matchup more than anything else. This guy was pretty good though. Played against his Chun-Li while using my horrendous Akuma.
Lost to a B rank Ryu twice. First match performance was pathetic so I went for another one. Did much better in the second match but still lost.
I also figured out what was wrong with my Sagat. It’s actually a mental block more than anything else. Quite stupid now that I know what’s going on. Because I’ve been using Sagat since vanilla, I’ve become very used to playing him in a certain way. I don’t know what to do with Sagat now. Even though he’s my favorite character I perform very poorly when using him. For now I’ve decided to confine him to training before I do anything else.
Played against a Rose while using Gouken. Can’t remember what changes I liked off the top of my head, but I felt it’s much easier to cancel moves with him now. Lost by pixels to the C-Rose so yeah, pretty happy but I think the Rose just hadn’t played against enough Goukens.
Yesterday I went to the arcade, forgetting that they were still running AE instead of 2012. Not bad though, Ken beat a Viper twice (iirc), lost to an Abel. Again, lost because of (lack of) matchup experience. Sagat got beat up so I quickly switched back to Ken.
Finally, Shinryuken’s hitbox. Wow.
