Most of the time I only buy toys from series I watch/read, i.e. Kamen Rider or the Walking Dead. Every now and then though I chance upon a toy that I instantly fall in (platonic) love with even though I’ve never seen it anywhere before.
Mechanic Lightan and his 5 friends are in that category.
This was procured from Uncle Ng’s at CSC when I was there last Sunday. He had a stack of these on clearance. I asked him what it was, he couldn’t explain it to me properly so he passed me a loose piece to play with. Obviously, I bought one.
Mechanic Lightan is what a toy should be. Simple and durable, but still fun and able to let your imagination fill in the blanks.
The toy itself is SOLID METAL. Mechanic Lightan is basically a lighter that transforms into a robot, because why not?
There are supposed to be missiles and power tools in the chest compartment (hence the Mechanic), but I didn’t remove them from the packaging. They’re roughly half the size of a fingernail (another testament to the “fuck the kids” sentiment of toy regulations back then). and really easy to lose.
That’s all for Mechanic Lightan. I intended to “review” THE Chogokin GT-08 Combattler V as well, but I guess that’ll wait until I get Getter-1 and Mach Baron.
